Who are we?
Langley Association for Community Living is an organization dedicated to excellence in the delivery of quality services to children with special needs, adults with developmental disabilities and their families. A developmental disability is an impaired ability to learn. It sometimes causes difficulty in coping with the demands of daily life. It is a condition which is usually present from birth, and it is not the same as mental or psychiatric illness. Developmental, or mental handicap, was at one time called mental retardation.
The BridgeArt Program
BridgeArt is a group of artists who are associated with the Langley Association for Community Living. BridgeArt began in 1998 as a small group of individuals who had the desire to develop their artistic skills and to learn how to express themselves creatively. The energy of the artists has remained strong as the artists continue to reach new heights of creative self expression.
The Works of Our Artists
The works of BridgeArt artists include landscapes, collages, as well as abstract and naïve works. The majority of artists create their painted works with acrylic on canvas or masonite. Artists also produce craft items and a variety of hand-made greeting cards. Artists show their works at local art exhibitions on a regular basis. The cost of the artwork ranges from $20 to $100. All proceeds go directly to the artist. |
