A variety of day time supports are available to individuals, each catering to the unique support requirements of participants.  These services are generally offered between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in a variety of locations throughout Langley.  Day time services generally focus support in the areas of community access, leisure and recreation supports, supported volunteerism, and life skill training.

    Bridge Centre

Our Bridge Centre program is designed for participants who require minimum supervision and has an additional emphasis on the arts and creative expression.  The Connections program is suited to older participants, whereas the Explorations program is ideal for younger adults and places an added emphasis on literacy training and personal development.

    Individualized Services

Individualized Services is a day time service designed for participants who have complex support requirements.  Each person supported has a program tailored to their unique needs, with staff trained to meet these individualized needs.  This service is available either on-site or through the person's home, depending upon personal preference.  The Association is also able to provide customized day time supports to individuals living in staffed residential services, through microboards, and through the Ministry of Health's continuing care services.

    Community Outreach and Support Services

C.O.S.S. offers a variety of individualized supports according to identified need.  The amount, intensity and duration of services are individually negotiated with each participant.  Services include:

    Community Lifeskills

A customized program of support is designed to assist adults to accomplish specific goals towards greater independent living, including community and personal safety, money management, transportation training and other supports as requested by the individual.

    Services to Aging Parents

Specifically designed for adults who continue to reside with their aging parents, this service provides brief periods of respite for parents, typically during the week.

    Home Support Services

This service is available to individuals who continue to reside at home with their parents or primary caregivers.  Typically, these individuals are not in receipt of day time supports and desire opportunities for supported community access.  The intensity and frequency of supports will be individually negotiated.

    Career and Employment Services

Partners in Employment Services is an employment service that is individualized to highlight the abilities, skills and preferences of motivated people who are seeking employment. Situated in the business district of Langley City and accessible to public transit, “Partners” uses a number of strategies to assist with employment success. We provide both traditional and customized employment services. Traditional Employment focuses on labour market trends, while Customized Employment is negotiated with the employer, creating a position that recognizes the individual’s skills and preferences. Work experience may be utilized; however, this aspect of the service is time limited and may be considered as an informal assessment that allows the employment consultant to observe employability skills. We provide individual employment planning, resume preparation, assistance with interview skills, employment counselling, assistance with marketing and job search, on-site training and monitoring, follow-up and  liaison with employers and participants.
